Superstar cat Colonel Meow (formerly of the Seattle area, now a Hollywood star) has set a Guinness World Record for the longest fur.

Colonel, a Himalayan/Persian mix, has fur that measures 9 inches. He is featured in the newly-released Guinness World Records 2014 book.

Colonel Meow was adopted by owners Anne Marie Avey and Eric Rosario after he was was found abandoned by the side of the road and taken in by Seattle Persian and Himalayan Society. They lived in Seattle but later moved to Los Angeles.

Anne Marie says there is a downside to having the cat with the longest fur - that fur is everywhere!

"I feel like I'm always vaccuming," she told Guinness.

And as the Colonel himself said on his Facebook page, " Bed head is for amateurs. Try having bed body."

He has more than 200,000 faithful fans - "minions" - on his Facebook page and that number continues to grow.
