As the nation's employment rate slowly rebounds, the Seattle area job is outpacing most other cities in the nation in job growth, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Of the nation's metropolitan areas with over 1 million people, only two cities in California saw their unemployment rate drop more than Seattle's over the past year. And neither of those areas have seen its unemployment rate go as low as Seattle's 5.9 percent.
The key to Seattle's success, according to the report, is its combination of industries - technology, traditional manufacturing and service, which have hired more readily than other parts of the country. Seattle added factory jobs nearly four times as fast as the rest of the nation in the past two years, while retail and construction jobs have grown twice as fast.
