A man was killed inside an apartment following a standoff with Seattle SWAT Friday morning.
The standoff at Bellevue Avenue E. and Denny way started around 3 a.m. Police say neighbors claimed they saw a man with a gun and heard a shot. He allegedly came out with a cell phone and a gun.
During the standoff, the man called TV stations including KING 5 News. He said he did nothing wrong and that he thought one of his neighbors got scared after seeing him with a gun. He cited his Second Amendment right to own a gun and said he was afraid he was going to be put in jail for practicing that right.
Seattle police tweeted at 11:55 a.m. that the officer-involved shooting was a confirmed fatality and that no officers were injured. However, it's not confirmed whether the fatal gunshot wound was by police or if it was self-inflicted.
