One man was arrested and another is on the run after one of them allegedly opened fire near the Washington-Canada border Tuesday morning.
The border patrol said the two men were on foot 7 miles east of Sumas, wearing camouflage and carrying backpacks. One man allegedly opened fire and ran into the woods. The other man was captured.
Nobody was hurt.
It’s not clear if the men crossed into the U.S. from Canada or if they were in the U.S. already. Published reports indicate helicopters were used in the search on the Canadian side of the border near the city of Abbotsford.
