PORTLAND -- The door of a Portland MAX train was stuck wide open as the train sped along the tracks, and one passenger caught it on camera.
The video (below) shows some passengers standing up and moving around as the train speeds along Interstate 84, headed to Lloyd Center.
At one point a man even approaches the wide-open door and hangs his head out of the moving train.
TriMet officials said that kind of malfunction is rare and the train car has been pulled from service.
“Once the operator was alerted to the malfunction, the door was immediately disabled,” the TriMet statement added. “We always encourage the public to immediately alert the operator if they see any safety concern."
The head of TriMet safety explained Monday morning that the "door summary circuit" failed to alert the driver that the door was open. The agency was still investigating.
