PORTLAND -- A man who had been charged with murder in a 2011 New Year's Day shooting in downtown Portland pleaded no contest Wednesday to a manslaughter charge.

He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

A few hours into the new year, a shot fired by Kevin Moffett during a fight outside the Club 915 bar hit bouncer Ruben Mata.

"I hope that one day you can find it in your heart to forgive me and to pray for me," Moffett said in court.

Moffett had a concealed weapons permit, and prosecutors said he did not have gang ties.
