Police are searching for the person who shot two people, killing one, at the Munchbar in Bellevue just after 1 a.m. Monday morning.
Bellevue Police Department spokeswoman Carla Iafrate said the deceased is a 30-year-old Seattle man. The injured victim is described only as a "younger man."
Investigators were looking for clues possibly left behind by the man they believe opened fire inside the popular restaurant and bar. Witnesses said at least five shots were fired, forcing more than 600 people inside the third floor outside in a panic.
"People started jumping over the railing of the bar, and I ran into the back, like behind in the kitchen," said witness Dejuan Loston.
Early reports indicate that there were several altercations that led up to the shooting, but Iafrate called it an "isolated incident." When the chaos cleared, a Seattle man was found dead and another man was injured.
Witnesses tell KING 5 News that there were several Seahawks players in the bar at the time of the shooting. Witnesses said the players were in a VIP lounge and were escorted to safety after the shooting. Other witnesses described a chaotic scene, telling local media they dove for cover or hit the floor when they heard gunshots.
Reality TV star Aubrey O’Day claimed she was with the players. Early Monday morning, she tweeted, "Seriously ppl just got shot n front of me. We hit the ground, never been in a situation like this. For real. Seattle, what's going on?!"
Police say the sheer number of people in the bar made it difficult to gather information.
"I would say there is a lot of confusion. When you have a shooting, people are running. It's chaotic," said Iafrate.
But investigators say they're developing new leads to track down the gunman, who disappeared in the crowd.
The shopping center opened Monday morning as normal, Iafrate said, adding that the shooting had minimal impact on overall operations.
