BOISE – Boise Police officers are looking for two men that broke into Zoo Boise early Saturday morning and killed a monkey.

Zoo security called police around 4:30 Saturday morning to say that two men, both wearing dark clothing, were in the zoo.

One was near the primate exhibit when the security guard saw them. Both men ran.

Police officers searched the grounds twice, once with thermal imaging equipment and came up empty.

During the search, officers found a Patas monkey lying near the perimeter fence near the primate exhibit, right where the two men were last seen.

The monkey had head injuries. Zoo managers gave the animal immediate medical treatment, but it died a short time later.

Now police need help tracking down the two men as they continue to investigate what happened.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
