PORTLAND – The city is getting ready and runners are gearing up for Sunday’s 41st annual Portland Marathon.
The event, which includes a full marathon, a half marathon and a 10K family walk, is expected to draw tens of thousands of runners, volunteers and spectators to downtown Portland.

The Portland Marathon was ranked as one the top 10 marathons in the country by Runner’s World magazine, and it’s also been called the most walker-friendly marathon in the United States.
The race gets underway at 7 a.m. and the majority of the course will be totally closed to cars.

A series of events are scheduled for the weekend including a Portland Marathon Kid’s Fun Run and a Sports & Fitness Expo at the Portland Hilton.

For those who won’t be running, there will be plenty of places to watch participants power through the 26.2 mile course. Weekend temps are expected to warm into the lower 70s by the afternoon with mostly sunny skies.
