A five-acre brush fire burning in Mason County is threatening about 20-25 homes and power lines in the Rainbow Lake area just north of Shelton. Deputies are knocking on doors and asking residents near Mason Lake Road and McQuinn/Prairie Road to evacuate.
Every available fire district is fighting the fire, said Chief Dean Byrd with the Mason County Sheriff's Office.
The fire is also threatening power lines, and crews with BPA and the Department of Natural Resources are helping fight the fire, along with fire crews from Thurston and Kitsap counties.
