Police evacuated a neighborhood on Saturday afternoon after a man went to his parents’ house, demanded money from them and threatened them with a knife.

The incident began just after 1:30 p.m. in the 6400 block of 67th Avenue West.

The parents escaped, but the man that police say is a convicted felon with felony warrants out for his arrest, barricaded himself in the home.

Nearby homes were evacuated as police attempted to contact the man and get him to come out of the home.

The suspect was arrested just after 8 p.m. by police after he exited his parents' house. A police dog was used to apprehend the suspect because he was not cooperating with police commands upon exiting the residence.
