Steven Powell wrote in his journal about his daughter-in-law Susan Cox Powell, “The fact is, I can hardly control myself when it comes to her.”
The News Tribune reports entries from Steven Powell’s journal were released Tuesday by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. There reportedly were passages in 17 spiral notebooks in which Powell allegedly wrote of sexual fantasies and expressions of love for Susan Cox Powell.
The journals reportedly indicated Powell believed Susan felt the same way although she refused to be around him.
Court documents released Tuesday also revealed that investigators in Utah almost immediately began classifying Susan Powell’s 2009 disappearance as a murder and kidnapping probe. It was largely focused on her husband, Josh Powell.
Josh Powell killed himself and his two sons in a fire in Graham, Wash., in February.
Steven Powell was convicted of voyeurism earlier this year and sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison.
