MILWAUKIE -- A 19-year-old man performed CPR and saved an elderly man’s life after he found him not breathing in his front yard Monday afternoon, emergency crews said.

Shortly after 12:00 p.m., the 19-year-old and his mother were driving on Oatfield Road when they noticed a man down in his front yard, said Brandon Paxton with the Clackamas Fire Department.

The two quickly pulled over and ran to the man’s side finding him with no pulse. The mother called 911 while her son started CPR, Paxton said.

Fire crews arrived later and performed advanced life support until the man's pulse returned. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition, Paxton said.

The man had apparently been mowing his lawn when he passed out.
