MT. HOOD -- A rescue effort is underway for a man and his injured dog on Mt. Hood.
Emergency dispatchers were called at around 3:45 p.m. on a report of the dog injured in the area of Zig Zag Canyon, about three miles away from Timberline Lodge. Around 30 minutes later, emergency crews received a follow-up call that the man got stuck on an embankment trying to rescue the dog.
Rescue crews from the Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office and Portland Mountain Rescue are en-route to bring the man and dog to safety. They're believed to be doing well, but they may be in treacherous terrain.
