OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A spokesman for Attorney General Rob McKenna says that the Republican candidate for governor disagrees with the Boy Scouts' recent reaffirmation of its national policy to exclude gays from its ranks.
McKenna is an Eagle Scout who currently serves on the Chief Seattle Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Campaign spokesman Charles McCray said Thursday that McKenna has had some initial conversations with other Boy Scout volunteers in the state on how they could locally encourage the national organization to reconsider its position.
McKenna's Democratic opponent, former U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee, also says he's disappointed with the Scouts' decision, which was announced Tuesday.
