VANCOUVER, Wash. – A police chase ended at gunpoint in Portland after a man robbed a Hazel Dell bank, carjacked a vehicle and sped through neighborhoods Wednesday.

The bank robbery occurred at the Riverview Savings Bank, at 1220 NE 88th Street just before 3 p.m.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and then fled in an SUV. A short time later, police said he carjacked a black Ford Focus.

Police chased him for a time and then backed off as he sped through neighborhoods, speeding from Hazel Dell to Vancouver and then into St. John's and North Portland.

They eventually tracked him to a North Portland neighborhood and boxed in his vehicle. That’s when he got out and ran and reportedly tried to carjack another vehicle before officer swarmed him, with guns drawn, and captured him near the intersection of Kellog and Burlington in North Portland.
