SEATTLE – Police say a “flash mob” of people dressed in black threw eggs and flares at a police car on Capitol Hill Monday night.
Seattle Police spokesman Detective Mark Jamieson said it happened around 10:10 p.m. on East Olive Way near Broadway. The officer on patrol saw about 40 to 50 people, mostly dressed in black and some covering their faces with bandanas. They were carrying a large banner and chanting anti-police slogans as they blocked traffic.
Some of the people allegedly threw lit road flares and eggs at the police car.
The officer turned down an alley and called for more officers. While the officer was waiting for assistance, Jamieson said another person threw a lit road flare at the car. Others allegedly pushed newspaper boxes into the street.
When more officers arrived, the protesters scattered.
Nobody was arrested.
