PORT ORCHARD, Wash. – One of the people arrested for helping the man who shot and killed a Washington State Trooper pleaded guilty Friday and was sentenced to six months in jail.
Jessi Leigh Foster, 32, pleaded guilty to rendering criminal assistance in the aftermath of February’s shooting that killed Trooper Tony Radulescu near Gorst on the Kitsap Peninsula.
Foster is the ex-girlfriend of Joshua Blake, the man police say shot Radulescu during a traffic stop. Foster and Blake also have a daughter together.
Police say Foster is one of at least six people who helped Blake elude police in the hours after the shooting, making calls and texting friends to try to get him a ride out of the area.
Blake later shot and killed himself as police moved in to arrest him. Foster was in the home when SWAT was moving in.
With time already served, Foster could get out of jail in a matter of weeks. Radulescu’s loved ones, like girlfriend Gina Miller, say that’s not right.
“It’s a tragedy. That’s what it comes down to is looking at the law and the sentence and they’re getting a slap on the wrist. Well, I carry Tony with me and that’s all I have,” said Miller.
Miller urges people to contact their state legislator to call for changes to the law to make sentences tougher.
