Three teen boys are being detained by police, suspected of setting a series of arson fires at a Lacey housing development.

The boys, all 16, are being held by the Thurston County Sheriff's Department for fires set Saturday night and Tuesday morning at the development located near Sleater-Kinney Road and 20th Avenue Northeast.

Fires set Saturday damaged four homes and caused $400,000 in damage. Another fire was set Tuesday morning at a house next door to one damaged earlier, causing $10,000 in damage. Paint was also splattered on the windows and inside the home.

A security guard told KING 5 News he saw three people on bicycles pedaling away from the scene after discovering Tuesday's fire.

Sheriff's deputies said the case is not suspected eco-terrorism, but rather "repeated, escalated vandalism."

All of the boys are runaways, and officers said one of them had a warrant out for his arrest.
