TACOMA -- A Tacoma mother wants the public's help in catching a man who tried to grab her son while he walked to school on Tuesday.
The 11-year-old boy said the incident happened in the morning as he was walking to his bus stop. He said a van pulled up behind him, the side door slid open, and a person wearing a ski mask leaned out and grabbed his backpack.
The boy said he was able to break away, then he ran to the bus stop and yelled for help. On Friday, he said he was still shaken up by the incident.
"It feels kind of weird like my body gets all intense and stuff," the boy said, "and I start getting a little shiver down my spine... my back starts to shake... it's realy terrifying."
The van is described as a gray, older model Econoline-style with tinted windows and Chevrolet hubcabs. The van had peeling paint.
Tacoma-Pierce County Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who hels solve this case.
