This time of year, you definitely don't want to take a dip in Boston's cold coastal water.
But that's exactly what happened to a woman on the waterfront -- and someone with a video camera captured the dramatic rescue that followed.

Cell phone video captures Boston Police Officer Edward Norton taking the plunge. He jumped into the frigid Fort Point Channel in a Torrential Downpour to rescue a woman who’d fallen into the water.

He didn't hesitate; ran down the steps, took off his belt and jumped into the water and swam over to get her.

Officer Norton says the woman was drowning, and he didn’t think twice about diving in.

He put the life preserver around her and then swam to this floating device right here, and they just held on until the fire department came, and then the divers jumped in the water after them.
