LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A publicist for actor Charlie Sheen says the actor is "fine." But that's more than you can say for his Mercedes.
The car was found early today, overturned, hundreds of feet down a cliff near his California home. But police say there's no evidence that he or anyone else was in the car when it went down the ravine. They searched the area, and found nobody near the car.
Police got an emergency call early today from the car's automatic alert system. At around the same time, they say, Sheen called police to say that the car had been stolen.
Police say it's being treated as an auto theft case.
An attorney for Sheen's wife says he can't comment on the crash because it's under investigation.
Sheen had been arrested in Colorado after a Christmas Day domestic disturbance at his Aspen home. A police officer's affidavit quotes his wife as saying Sheen had held a knife to her throat.
Sheen denies threatening her. He's scheduled to be arraigned Monday on domestic violence charges.
