Army's 25th Infantry gets new general in Hawaii

HONOLULU (AP) — The military says the chief legislative liaison for the Office of the Secretary of the Army is due to become the commander of the 25th Infantry Division out of Hawaii's Schofield Barracks.

Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey announced the appointment of Maj. Gen. Bernard S. Champoux on Wednesday.

Champoux also has served as deputy commander for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.

He replaces Maj. Gen. Robert L. Caslen Jr., who has been appointed to become commanding general of the Army Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Caslen also has been promoted to lieutenant general.

The 25th Infantry includes units in Hawaii and Alaska.
