SNOHOMISH, Wash. (AP) — The Snohomish County sheriff's office says rescuers in a helicopter airlifted an injured skier from the mountain backcountry at Stevens Pass.
In a release, the sheriff's office says the skier had suffered an injured back after losing a ski and falling 100 yards. Stevens Pass Ski Patrol had reached the skier before the helicopter arrived and prepared the skier to be carried away.
The skier was at about the 5,200-foot level, east of Stevens Pass Ski Area.
The skier was transported to Providence Hospital in Everett. The identity was not released.
