SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle City Light says federal regulators are renewing the utility's license to operate Boundary Dam for 42 years.
The dam on the Pend Oreille (pahn-duh-RAY') River near Metaline Falls in the northeast corner of Washington generates about a quarter of the electricity for the utility, which has about a million customers.
The order was issued Wednesday by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and becomes final after all parties have a chance to review documents.
The dam was built in 1967 and is 740 feet long and 340 feet tall.
