SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A woman who was shot to death early Monday in Spokane had handcuffs on one hand.
She was identified Tuesday by the Spokane County medical examiner's office as 20-year-old Heather A. Cassel.
Police held a news conference Tuesday to discuss the arrest of two suspects, 23-year-old Jonathan J.L Ritchey and 45-year-old Gary L. Stoddard.
The Spokesman-Review reports (http://bit.ly/14W223K ) Ritchey and Cassel had a child together but had recently broken up, and she was seeking custody of the child. Stoddard is Ritchey's uncle.
Police say Ritchey and Cassel were arguing early Monday when Stoddard arrived and drove her away. Stoddard told detectives he put Cassel in handcuffs but she freed one hand and was trying to run away. He said he panicked and shot her.
