PUYALLUP, Wash. (AP) — Police in Puyallup (Pew-AL-up), Wash., say a southbound Sounder commuter train struck and killed a female pedestrian Wednesday evening in that community southeast of Tacoma.

Capt. Scott Engle says the woman was struck while walking north at 15th Street Southeast and East Pioneer Avenue and she didn't appear to try to move out of the path of the train.

Police are investigating.
