LAKE STEVENS, Wash. (AP) — A Snohomish County fire official says a 13-year-old boy was rescued Wednesday evening from Lake Stevens after he fell from a small paddle boat.
Fire District 8 Battalion Chief Perry Putnam told The Daily Herald (http://is.gd/9mwxJo ) the boy was treated for mild hypothermia.
A 911 caller reported seeing the boy clinging to the boat. Putnam says the teen was wearing shorts and a T-shirt but no life jacket and had been in the chilly lake about 10 minutes.
The official says a neighbor rowed out to the boy in a boat. Although unable to pull him from the water, the rescuer got a life jacket on him and began towing him to shore.
Firefighters pulled the boy onto a dock and tended to him.
Lake Stevens is east of Everett.
