SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) — A coin toss determined the newest member of the Spokane Valley City Council.
The council was split 3-3 Tuesday night on filling a vacancy, so a coin flip made the choice between Rod Higgins and Linda June Thompson.
KREM reports (http://bit.ly/XiSmxJ ) Higgins won the toss and was sworn in.
He replaces council member Brenda Grassel who moved outside the city. Higgins is a former planning commission member and will fill the city council seat until an election in November.
