EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A Bothell man who shot his terminally ill wife pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder and was sentenced to two years in prison.
The children of 55-year-old Donald McNeely had asked the Snohomish County Superior Court judge to show mercy to their father.
The Daily Herald reports (http://bit.ly/VACrv6) he shot his wife, Linda McNeely, last March at their home. She was dying of brain cancer.
The defense lawyer said the family had explored legal suicide, but she was not a candidate because of dementia.
