JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) — A new headquarters for the Warrior Transition Battalion has opened at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Battalion spokeswoman Suzanne Ovel says the $18 million building brings administrators and some medical appointments closer to the wounded and ill soldiers who live in barracks near Madigan Army Medical Center.
The News Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/VrRT01) about 550 soldiers are assigned to the battalion. They are either recovering from injuries to the ranks or preparing for medical retirements.
