TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — The Washington state Corrections Department says no one was injured when a small homemade bomb exploded Thursday afternoon outside the agency's largest Pierce County field office in Tacoma.
Corrections spokesman Chad Lewis says the three-story building wasn't damaged.
Tacoma police are investigating.
Lewis says no threat was received before the device went off at about 3:30 p.m. The office was locked down until 5 p.m., when employees went home. Lewis says the office will reopen Friday.
Offenders report to community corrections officers at the field office.
