PORT LUDLOW, Wash. (AP) — A derelict ship at Port Ludlow that was seized by the state Department of Natural Resources is scheduled to be towed Friday to a Seattle shipyard.
The department says the final trip for the 180-foot New Star depends on the weather and Coast Guard approval, but it should arrive Friday afternoon at Stabbert Maritime, which is near the Ballard Locks.
The ship has been docked at Port Ludlow since October. The owner was unable to carry out a plan to scrap it in Mexico. The department seized it last week to prevent it from becoming a problem and to dismantle it in an environmentally sound manner.
