SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Spokane City Council approved what Mayor David Condon calls a "no growth" budget.
The $161 million spending plan for next year funds more than 2,000 city jobs but eliminates about 100 positions. Most of them are currently vacant, including 21 jobs on the police force.
KHQ reports (http://is.gd/L8YoUt) a motion to offset the cuts by raising property taxes was defeated Monday night on a 4-3 vote.
