TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a man fleeing from deputies in a car crashed into a Tacoma home, seriously injuring himself.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/QWiXT1) the incident began when a Pierce County deputy tried to stop the man for a traffic violation.

Instead of pulling over, he sped away, leading deputies throughout the southern part of the city. The man eventually lost control of his car and slammed into an occupied house before careening into the intersection and coming to rest.

The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. No one inside the house was hurt.

Deputies expect to book the man into jail for investigation of numerous offenses once he's released from the hospital.
