SEATTLE (AP) — The Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle has agreed to pay $635,000 to settle a lawsuit from a man who says he was molested in the 1980s by a youth minister at St. John Vianney Church in Kirkland.

Ralf Eckmann says the man was hired without a background check and the pastor dismissed concerns when they were raised by his parents.

Church spokesman Greg Magnoni (man-YOHN'-ee) told KOMO (http://is.gd/fzG35t) the archdiocese is pleased to bring closure to the victim.
