TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A professor of politics and government at the University of Puget Sound has been chosen as the Washington state professor of the year by the Carnegie Foundation and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
Professor Karl Fields, a specialist in Asian politics, is a big advocate of sending students overseas to study or do internships. He's led numerous study trips to Asia and has been director of the Asian Studies Program at the University of Puget Sound. He has taught there since 1990.
This is the seventh time a professor from the Tacoma liberal arts college has won the prestigious teaching award.
