COLLEGE'S WINNINGEST COACH - John Gagliardi, the winningest college football coach of all time, is entering his 60th season as head coach at Division III St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. Gagliardi has a collegiate career record of 484-133-11 in his 64 years as a head football coach, and a record of 460-127-10 in his 60 years at St. John's.
SOLYNDRA TUBES USED IN CALIF. ART INSTALLATION - When Solyndra went bankrupt, the government-backed solar manufacturer left behind millions of custom-made glass tubes. Some are finding new life in an architectural installation at the University of California, Berkeley.
SCHOOL LUNCHES NOW LEANER, GREENER - It's a new effort to get kids to eat their veggies. Under new federal guidelines, students at schools nationwide must now choose a fruit or vegetable with their meal.

PROTESTS CONTINUE - Egyptian troops used military vehicles and tear gas to briefly disperse crowds of protesters gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Cairo. Security forces in Yemen fired live rounds in to the air as protestors tried to storm the U.S. embassy in the capital Sana'a. There were also protests in Afghanistan and reports of protests in Khartoum.
CHICAGO TEACHERS STRIKE - With no settlement, over 350,000 students and their families are still coping with the abrupt strike now entering its fifth day.

NY, CENTRAL PARK RAPE SUSPECT ARRESTED - New York police have arrested a man suspected of raping a 73-year-old woman in Central Park. The victim picked the suspect out of a lineup.
NJ, 911 CALLS RELEASED FROM NJ SUPERMARKET SHOOTING - Employees at a New Jersey supermarket can be heard on 911 calls begging for police to send help as a gunman goes on a rampage. The calls from the Aug. 31 shooting at the Pathmark in Old Bridge were released Thursday. (Sept. 13)
CT, UCONN MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH JIM CALHOUN RETIRES - Jim Calhoun retired as Connecticut's basketball coach Thursday, closing a 26-year career at the school with three national titles, an upcoming NCAA tournament ban and no apologies. Assistant coach Kevin Ollie will be the Huskies' new coach. (Sept. 13)
