PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A one-day, nonjury murder trial is under way for a woman charged with killing two colleagues at a Philadelphia food plant.
Prosecutors have agreed not to seek the death penalty. In return, Yvonne Hiller is no longer seeking an insanity plea in the double-murder case.
Authorities say the 45-year-old Hiller told police she thought co-workers at a Kraft Foods plant were spraying her with deer urine.
Police say she was suspended after a confrontation in September 2010, left the plant and got a gun, and returned minutes later. They say she targeted two workers, killing two and wounding a third.
Prosecutors said in Monday's opening statements that 120 people were making Nabisco cookies and crackers at the plant at the time.
Common Pleas Judge Benjamin Lerner is hearing the case.
