GRAND BAY, Ala. (AP) — At a rest stop along Interstate 10 in Alabama, 54-year-old Bonnie Schertler of Waveland, Miss., was evacuating to her father's home in Alabama as Isaac approached the Gulf Coast on Tuesday.
Schertler was traveling with her dog, Custer, and cat, Bennie. She said she decided to evacuate because forecasters were saying the storm could get stronger and could stall and pound the coast for an extended period of time.
Schertler's former home in Waveland was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina and says she's evacuating ahead of Isaac because of the "coulds."
