Malden fire 100 percent contained

WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash --- Authorities reported the Malden fire near Malden, Washington had burned 246 acres Friday.

The fire is 100 percent contained with 75 personnel on the scene.

All evacuations were lifted for the Malden Fire burning in Whistman County Thursday.

State fire mobilization was ordered for the fire earlier this week. 

The Malden fire started around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday. The cause is still under investigation.

The fire is located approximately one mile north of Malden, Washington. The fire is burning grass, brush, standing wheat and timber. The Malden Fire is threatening crops, timber and homes in the area. 

Mobilization specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau ordered two strike teams, a bulldozer and two hand crews to fight the fire.

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on August 2 at 9:15 p.m. at the request of Fire Chief Bill Tensfeld of Whitman County Fire District 7.
