Stevens County Emergency Management ordered level three evacuations for some residents in the Gold Creek Loop area on Friday afternoon, after a fast-moving wildfire started. They were allowed back into their homes by about 3:45 p.m.
Officials said people impacted by the evacuations were notified by their 911 system, HyperReach. Public information officers were not sure how many people had been told to evacuate, nor did they have an exact location.
Officials said no structures were lost in the fire, and they were working on getting a line around it.
The Gold Creek Loop fire, according to Washington DNR, was 20 acres as of 3:00 p.m.
