Woodrat Fire

Level 2: Up-river from the existing Level III Syringa boundary east (up-river) to the western boundary of Lowell, and Suttler Creek Road.

  • North of region from Belinger Road to State Highway 231
  • Spokane Agency Reservation boundary south to Lake Roosevelt (Including the West End Community)

Road Closures: Pingston Creek Road is closed as of Wednesday from Highway 25 to Highway 20. 

Evacuations have been lifted for Gold Hill, according to Stevens County Fire Officials. 

Kettle Complex

Officials said Tuesday, August 25, that firefighters from British Columbia are being integrated into the incident planning to help battle the fire.

Crews said September 1, that the Stickpin Fire has not grown in two days. Crews who have been working the night shift on the Renner fire have transitioned to day shift and will be joining the fire crews from British Columbia as they work to reinforce fire lines.

Ferry County evacuation levels were also reduced on September 1 in the following areas:

  • The area from Deadman Creek Road to Nancy Creek Road is now a Level 2.
  • The area south of Nancy Creek Road is now a Level 1.
  • The area east of Highway 395 is reduced to a Level 1.
  • The area west of Highway 395 from Boulder Creek Road south to Deadman Creek Road is now a Level 2.
  • The area north of Boulder Creek Road to Humes Road/Eslick Road are reduced to a Level 1.

 

Fire near Malo grows to over 35,000 acres

Officials said Tuesday, August 25, that the Graves Mountain Fire was no longer being included in the Kettle Complex Fire totals. Officials said it will now be counted as part of the Colville Complex.

On September 1, fire crews said a dozer-built fireline has circled the burned area north of S. Deadman Creek Road. Crews are utilizing natural barriers whenever possible and will continue to navigate steeper terrain in order to dig fire containment lines.

Ferry County evacuation levels were also reduced on September 1 in the following areas. Officials said as of 10:00 a.m. there were no longer any Level 3 Evacuation areas.

  • The area from Deadman Creek Road to Nancy Creek Road is now a Level 2.
  • The area south of Nancy Creek Road is now a Level 1.
  • The area east of Highway 395 is reduced to a Level 1.
  • The area west of Highway 395 from Boulder Creek Road south to Deadman Creek Road is now a Level 2.
  • The area north of Boulder Creek Road to Humes Road/Eslick Road are reduced to a Level 1.

Location: Two and a half miles west of Barstow

  • The area from Deadman Creek Road to Nancy Creek Road is now a Level 2.
  • The area south of Nancy Creek Road is now a Level 1.
  • The area east of Highway 395 is reduced to a Level 1.
  • The area west of Highway 395 from Boulder Creek Road south to Deadman Creek Road is now a Level 2.
  • The area north of Boulder Creek Road to Humes Road/Eslick Road are reduced to a Level 1.

Evacuations: A level one evacuation notice was issued by Bonner County Emergency Management for the "Priest Lake area" Thursday. The Clark Fork area is also under Level One Evacuations. An area closure remains in effect for Browns Lake and South Skookum Campgrounds on the Newport Ranger District and for the North Skookum Campground (Washington DNR). There are Level One and Level Two evacuations in place, according the Pend Orielle and Bonner County Sheriff Department's:

  • Kalispel Reservation
  • Pend Oreille River Corridor (From the Usk Bridge on the south to LeClerc Creek Road on the north)
  • Best Chance Road area
  • Highway 57 corridor from Priest River North

Bonner County officials ask others to avoid the Priest Lake area due to health and safety concerns, as well as for traffic purposes, should an evacuation happen.
