COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho --- Fire officials are working to determine what caused a fire to spread along Interstate 90 in Coeur D’Alene on Aug. 27.

The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department released surveillance video of the rapidly spreading fire, shot from Specialty Recreation and Marine.

“You will see in the fire several small flickers of light in the upper left (grassy area).  These flickers are almost simultaneous and quickly begin to spread once the wind gets ahold of them,” wrote officials in a release. “Although we do not see any ignition sources coming from the vehicles passing by we are still reviewing the video and travel paths of the vehicles that pass by before the fire.”

Officials said the fire appears to be accidental and human-caused. CDAFD said the fire involved 29 ATVs and PWCs, as well as four vehicles in the parking lot of the Shilo Inn.

They said they were exploring the possibility that the vehicle involved may have gotten off I-90 at Northwest Boulevard around 11:20 that Saturday.

The fire near Specialty Recreation and Marine was one of two fires that happened along I-90 on Aug. 27.
