SPOKANE -- People all over the inland northwest are gathering to remember fallen veterans.

Neighbors in Nine Mile Falls woke up early this morning to hang a giant flag in honor of area veterans.

The flag is 38 feet by 20 feet. That makes each star the size of a basketball!

The neighborhood makes sure the flag is up every Memorial Day and Fourth of July.

There are some events you can attend today for the holiday as well. In spokane, there's a service at 11:30am at the Fairmont Cemetery.

At noon the names of those killed in the iraq war will be read at the Pines Cemetery in Spokane Valley.

And, over in Coeur d'Alene veterans will be honored at 9:00am at Veterans Park.

Then at 2:00pm, a Fairchild refueling tanker will fly over the veterans name reading which is at the Coeur d'Alene Memorial Cemetery.
