SPOKANE VALLEY -- A kennel in Spokane Valley is helping pets of families evacuated because of the Valley View Fire have a safe place to stay.

A dog sits in a kennel in Spokane Valley.

Marcinda Kennels tells KREM 2 News it plans to offer free boarding as long as there's a need.

As of Friday afternoon, about a third of the people who dropped off pets had returned to pick-up them up as evacuation orders were lifted.

The Spokane Co. Fairgrounds opened its stalls to take in horses, goats and other small livestock displaced by the fire.
