STEVENS COUNTY -- A Deer Park woman and her teenage son face criminal charges for dumping a pick-up truck into Red Lake near Tum Tum Tuesday morning.

Authorities fished this stolen truck from Red Lake Tuesday morning.

Police say 45-year-old Debra Schmitz reported the truck stolen early Tuesday morning. The truck was recovered from Red Lake in Stevens County a few hours later.

During the investigation, detectives determined Schmitz and her 19-year-old son, Brandon Schmitz, made the story up. Debra Schmitz faces charges of hindering an investigation. Brandon Schmitz will be charged with conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.
