ST. MARIES, Id--KREM 2 NEWS obtained search warrant documents that reveal what was inside the St. Maries, ID home of the suspects in the child abuse case of three-year-old Kyra Wine.

Wine was flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center Tuesday in critical condition with dead flesh on her hands and legs. She's since been upgraded to serious condition.

Her mother, Christina Haynes, and Haynes' live-in boyfriend, Charles Smith, are in the Benewah County Jail charged with felony injury to a child.

The search warrants reveal what Benewah County Sheriff's deputies found when they arrived at the home of Haynes and Smith on Tuesday around 9:15 a.m. after a citizen called the Sheriff's Office for a welfare check on Kyra.

Deputies found Kyra with "severe scarring on her bottom", her "scalp pulled up", and "dried blood on her face."

The deputies, Haynes and Smith drove Kyra to the hospital in St. Maries after noting Kyra's condition as "very poor" with "severe dead tissue on her feet and hands." They noted that the bruising and discoloration on her feet made it look like she had socks on.

The documents say when deputies later told Haynes she was being charged with felony injury to a child she said, "I do not understand any of it."

Haynes and Smith both said Kyra became ill and denied the claims of abuse. They said Smith was giving Kyra a bath when she slipped in the tub and hit her head, which they said was the reason most of her hair was gone from her head.

In Kyra's room, deputies found ointment cream, rubber gloves, syringes, a bloody pillow and blanket in a crib, a blood spot on the floor with a shirt on it and a bloody diaper.

The search warrant also revealed that Christina works at the Black Rock Ranch near St. Maries for $1,400 a month. She told deputies that Smith was alone with Kyra and her sister Amanda most of the time at home while she worked.
