Firefighters make quick work of basement fire in Spokane Valley

Seven engines from the Spokane Valley Fire Dept. reponded to a furnace fire in the 4400 block of N. Best Rd today around 3 p.m.

Officials say a grandmother, was watching her granddaughter when she smelled smoke. The woman called 911 after smoke dectors began sounding.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire after it was located in the basement furnace room.
Both the grandmother and her granddaughter escaped from the home unharmed.
There is no estimate on the cost of damages at this time. The homeowner will be staying with famiy util repairs can be completed.
