FERNAN, ID. -- Fernan is being overrun with a growing deer population, so much so that this week wildlife officials began rounding them up and shipping them out.

A deer spotted in Fernan Lake Village in North Idaho.
Idaho Fish and Game approved the proposal earlier this month to hire a trapper and relocate the deer out of town.
"The worst issue could be we transport ten and ten more come in," said Fernan Mayor Jim Elder. "But Fish and Game feel this could work."
Prior to the plan, officials tried a no feeding ordinance. It worked for a while, but some of the deer just refuse to leave Fernan.
There are some rules trappers must follow; they must use humane tactics and the animals cannot be drugged.
The deer will be moved to a Coeur d'Alene wildlife management area near Rose Lake.
